Gilbarco Updates (Canada) - May 2014
Subject: Gilbarco Updates (Canada)
Attn: NEE Service Managers and DSS Subcontractors
Please note the following updates from Gilbarco:
HCR v17
- As of May 22, 2014 all new crates/kits and all spare parts replacements are HCR v17
- Extended warranty plan for 2013-2014 expires on May 31st (HCR/TCR warranty extended to June 30), Gilbarco will distribute 2014-2015 warranty plan when available
- A second HCR card reader supplier is being qualified. Their offering is still in development and Gilbarco expects to start field trials later this summer
- Supplier will provide supply chain flexibility as well as a design alternative
- Once released, Gilbarco will determine which design will be the primary card reader used for new equipment
Software
- Changes are being made to the order entry process for designating the correct software versions to ship with units
- You participated in the training on changes to WOW to capture the customer specific software version
- Spare part SPOTs will leave Gilbarco with 50.2.13 so they can be updated to the version on the site
- An Excel document has been attached for your reference
- First tab reflects the versions that could be currently in the field
- Second tab reflects the latest version approvals for new equipment
- This is a living document as Gilbarco gets everyone moved up. When it stabilizes it will be kept on GOLD
- Constraints – things to remember when servicing a site
- Site should stay consistent on software versions – if a SPOT is replaced it needs to be loaded with the SW bundle on the rest of the site
- Kernels can’t be mixed – same as above, don’t mix kernel versions
- 50.4.05 (1.05 kernel) is now the standard bundle installed in the factory
- Orders for customers that have approved a higher version can be upgraded to that version
- Please note the version you want loaded on your PO
- Additional available releases
- 51.4.05 (1.06 kernel)
- 50.5.03 (1.05 kernel)
- Fixes for “Init” and “one Moment please” lock-ups
- 51.5.03 (1.06 kernel)
- Fixes for “Init” and “one Moment please” lock-ups
- 61.5.03 (1.06 kernel)
- Bundle required for PCI 2 system
- Currently in Alpha trials
- Target availability is sept 2013
- 50.2.13 can be ordered and installed at GVR for customers that still require it on new equipment
- Primary users of 50.2.13 are customers using the Bulloch “Independent” application
- When Bulloch releases v03.05.59 these customers can move up to current production release versions
- Irving Oil upgrade will be Bulloch v03.05.74

PCI 2 PIN Pad
- Gilbarco is actively moving customers to the new PCI 2 PIN Pad
- The attached spreadsheet notes who has approved it for new equipment
- When ordering new equipment for these brands use promo code “PCI2KP” to drive the new Pin Pad
- When a majority of accounts have moved over and the new PIN Pad becomes standard, Gilbarco will create a Promo code for PCI 1 PIN Pads for those that lag behind
- PIN Pad can be used in PCI 1 or PCI 2 applications
- If you have any other customers who have accepted the new PIN Pad, please let Gilbarco know
PCI 1 to PCI 2 Migration
- Gilbarco has received some direction from Acquirers/card Brands on the migration
- Customers must discuss the situation with their Acquirer (Moneris/GlobalPay/TD Bank/Desjardins) for specific programs
- PCI 2 platform includes the following – HCR v17, PCI 2 PIN Pad, SPOT M3 with SW bundle 61.5.03
- What Gilbarco has been told to date
- Like-for-like replacements of PCI 1 equipment is acceptable (i.e. PCI1 dispenser knocked off the island)
- Like-for-like replacement of PCI 1 PIN pads is acceptable for spare parts
- Customers who are certified with the 1.06 kernel on the PCI 1 platform can migrate to the PCI 2 hardware platform without re-certification
- Customers seeking new certifications need to use kernel 1.06 (expiry date August 12th, 2014) or kernel 1.07 available this month
- Gilbarco is currently in Alpha trials with Suncor on the PCI 2 Platform
- They will be expanding to Beta trials at the end of June
- Full production release of PCI 2 will be in September
- Gilbarco will advise which customers can install PCI 2 as we get closer
GCM 2.0
- The next rev of GCM is in development
- This version will include all the new Card Brand specification updates since the original release
- Gilbarco expects this will be the production version in 1Q2015
FlexPay Connect
- The use of this product is gaining some traction in several accounts to provide TCP/IP protocol over the two-wire network in the ground
- Over the next couple of weeks Gilbarco will be putting together some materials for your use in discussing this option with customers
Thank you,
